FAQs About the Ayahuasca Medicine

What can Ayahuasca do?
Short version: Ayahuasca purges out dark, low-frequency energy (such as fear, addictions, anger, emotional and physical toxins, ego, etc). As these things are purged, the body comes back into it´s
natural Light state of balance. As the person elevates to these new levels, they learn management techniques to be able to keep the darkness out, and be more connected to the Divine. This naturally
brings the person into clarity about Life Purpose, as well as make things easier to manifest (Laws of Attraction).
Many physical ailments (some considered incurable by Western doctors) release as the dark energies underneath (the
cause of the illness) are purged. Psychic and healing abilities are generally increased dramatically as well over time.
How long does it take to heal?
It takes as long as it takes. It really depends on how much stuff is in there to be purged, and how much those dark energies have infiltrated the belief systems. Often people can purge dark entities
in one or two ceremonies, and break through debilitating walls, allowing for major life turning points in a short period of time. But to purge ingrained belief systems (crossed energies) the process
can be longer. The more toxins a person has physically ingested (through use of street drugs, Western meds, chemicals and hormones in Western diet, excess alcohol, excess sexual exchange, etc) the
longer it will take. But at least there is a way out!
Do I have to throw up?
Most people do vomit, as that is the most efficient way to release the purge (the energies use the physical vomit as a catalyst to leave the body). There are some people that don´t, since there are
several other ways to release the energies. But if you want to get rid of the junk, you need to at least be willing to vomit. It´s a small price to pay for what is on the other side!
I´ve heard purging can be really scary...
Yes, it can be, if you are purging fear at that moment. Most often (though not every time) the person experiences the purge on it´s way out. The Medicine, the Higher Self, and God all work together
to prioritize, purging the most debilitating thing the person can handle in order of importance. Fear is often the most debilitating, so it is commonly the first thing to go. It may hold off on
purging fear if the person simply has too much to handle right away. Fear is usually purged in a couple of ceremonies, and after that it gets much easier.
Are there Negative Side Effects?
Being that Ayahuasca is a medicinal plant, there are no "extra" side effects; there is just purging, which is releasing the negative energy
in the body (and the point of doing this work). During the purging process, the physical body may have various reactions to the dark energy leaving the body. This can include vomiting, defecation (we
have people there to assist you to the bathroom if necessary), hot or cold purges, sweating, yawning, gas, crying or extreme emotions, mental confusion or 'thought spirals', shaking or vibrating, or
extreme energy surges. During the process, often the person experiences the energy as it´s on its way out (for example, while purging fear, a person may experience being extremely scared). This is
not always the case...the medicine works with your Higher Self and God to allow you to prioritize purging the most debilitating thing that you can handle purging at the time. This is not a shortcut,
easy process. This is for serious spiritual workers/seekers who are ready to look hard and deep, and face the darkness that may still reside within the body and mind. As challanging as the purging
process can be, the Light levels, Divine bliss and life-changing wisdom people recieve is well worth the work!
What's the deal with brujeria (witchcraft/dark shamanism)?
It is a common fear of being 'attacked' by 'brujos' or dark shamans spiritually in ceremony. From Infinite Light's perspective, this is often a fear tactic used to try to keep guests drinking Ayahuasca in one organization (as if they are the only ones who can protect them.) Luco has had no trouble with attacks, as it is very far from our world. We plug and and focus on the Light, and live in as much integrity as we can muster, which serves as strong protection from God/Universe/Medicine. Does it really exist? Luco says it does, but occurs very rarely (much less often than many shamans allude to or believe). Meghan has never experienced it in any of her hundreds of ceremonies.
How can a plant teach me?
It seems strange before you work with it, and it is a completely different type of teaching than the traditional Western approach (from books). The Medicine shows you things, brings up things during
the day and in ceremony, gives you opportunities to figure things out, and allows you to actually experience learning rather than just copying someone else´s words. It will make sense once you do it.
We have plenty of people here, both Peruvian heart-centered style, as well as Western mental-plane approach, to help support you in understanding what is going on through the process.
Why do we go to the river at 6am after ceremonies?
The morning river bathe, traditionally done soon after sunrise, is to clean off the residual energies purged from the night before that may be in the skin. It is a two minute walk, five minute dip in
the river, then you can go back to bed. It will vastly improve the quality of your day. The shower is a far, far second from the natural energy of the river. The days you really, really don´t feel
like getting up are the days you need it the most. Trust me.
Why do the shamans smoke in ceremony?
Tobacco, when used with the Medicine, serves as a protector, a purifier, and an offering. It can break up dark energies in an instant. The ceremony house is large and airy, so it shouldn´t bother
non-smokers unless you want it to. It is a medicinal supporter plant and has been used with the Medicine for centuries.
Is Ayahuasca a drug?
Far from it. Ayahuasca is the anti-drug. It purges not only the chemical intake from both street drugs and Western meds, but also the darker energies that may have entered the body while the
energetic doors were wide open. Ayahuasca can release the self-sabatoge underneath abusing the body with drugs. Be very clear, this is not ¨tripping.¨People don´t do Ayahuasca for fun or to get high.
This is extremely serious, sacred, and challanging high-level spiritual work, and it needs to be treated as such. If a person is unwilling to transcend a society stigma that catagorizes the Medicine
as such, then they are naturally filtered out of who is ready and called to it. These plants are Medicine, meaning medicinal in nature, putting the body back into balance, where drug
dependency and addiction cannot reside.
What kind of foods will we be eating?
No sugar on ceremony days, two meals a day (breakfast and lunch only on ceremony days), simple, natural foods. Any combination of yucca, plantains, rice, bread, cheese, vegetables, beans, spaghetti,
chicken, fish, and eggs. Vegetarians and vegans will have the same menu, minus the meats. Starting in January, we will be developing a more in-depth vegan menu.
On 'off' nights (when we don't have ceremony) dinner is not served at the house, and is optional and not included in the program cost. Maximum cost is $3, at the 'higher end' restaurant that serves chicken, french fries, plantains and rice.
Can I take my meds while working with the Ayahuasca?
All anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds (MAO Inhibitors) cannot be used with the Medicine (this can be dangerous.) It is highly recommended to be safely off all meds and vitamins before you start,
as putting other chemicals or herbs may be counter- intuitive to the process. There are certain medications that are exceptions, but only as a last resort with a doctor´s note. Contact us about your
particular situations.
Who cannot participate in ceremony?
Anyone with a mental condition must consult a physician before attending, and be able to safely cease taking their medications four weeks prior to the start date of the trip, with clearance.
The Medicine will not be conducive for use with the following conditions (however some of them can benefit from other Plant Diets, so contact us)
- High Blood Pressure
- Diabetes
- Heart Disease (any vulnerability to the heart)
- Epilepsy (all seizure-related conditions)
- Infectuous or Contagious Diseases
- Suicidal Ideation
- Use of MAO Inhibitors or Anti-Depressant/Anxiety/Psychotic Medication
- Severe Schizophrenia
- Current Alcohol or Drug Addiction (requiring detox)
- Children
Is it guaranteed that I will succeed?
Unfortunately, no. Not everyone is willing to release what needs to be released. Some people are very attached to their ego, addictions, etc. You´ve got to truly have the intention and willingness to
do the work, and you´ve got to want it. You cannot force someone into this...their spirit calls them when they are ready and willing. But if you want it, are willing to do the work, and are patient,
the Medicine will take you on an amazing ride to where you want to be.
So the shaman will cure me of all my issues, right?
No. What the shaman is doing is creating a safe space in Light for you to heal yourself of the issues. This is a co-creative process
between you and the Medicine. He will support you as needed, but if you want someone to do your homework for you, this is not the right place. The skills, strenght, and inner light that is pulled up
by you working your own process is imperative to life. You will be grateful for it later. And by doing it yourself, cultivating your own Medicine, you get the 'win' in the end.
What is there to do during the day?
We keep the schedule relatively open during the day, since the priority is the Medicine work, and often people need time to relax, process, journal, read, draw, hang out, and sleep to rebalance the body. Commonly, people like to swim in the river, hike in the nearby trail, or walk to the store. Some days we have optional activities, such as the plant gathering by boat, jungle survival hike, or trip to the local nature preserve. It is a nice balance between the intense spiritual work, relaxation during the day, with things to do when desired.
